June Blog: From Doodles to Stories: Promoting Early Childhood Writing Development

From Doodles to Stories: Promoting Early Childhood Writing Development

This month's blog is From Doodles to Stories: Promoting Early Childhood Writing Development .

As a parent or teacher, you are undoubtedly aware of the significance of encouraging early childhood writing development. But how can you make this process enjoyable and engaging for young children? The answer may be easier than you think: "Doodles." In this blog post, we will look at the advantages of using doodles to help young children develop their writing skills.

Guest Blogger Cynthia Young is an academic writer and editor. She starts her day by reading her favorite magazines and ends up writing her own articles about self-education and marketing.

App of the Month

Every month we are going to feature a different, and hopefully FREE, iPad/iPod/iPhone/Android educational application. Visit our ever-changing app page.

The App of the Month for June is BirdNET by Stefan Kahl ( iOS and Android ).

How can computers learn to recognize birds from sounds? The BirdNET research project uses artificial intelligence and neural networks to train computers to identify nearly 3,000 of the most common species of North America and Europe. You can record a file using the internal microphone of your iOS device and see if BirdNET correctly identifies the probable bird species present in your recording. Get to know the birds around you and help us to collect observations by submitting your recordings.

BirdNET is a joint project of the K. Lisa Yang Center for Conservation Bioacoustics at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and Chemnitz University of Technology.

BirdNET is available for Apple and Android devices.

Compatibility: Requires iOS 13.0 or later on Apple iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch and Android version 7.0 and up on your Android device.

      TECHNOLOGY TIPS

      1. 14 Artificial Intelligence Teaching Tools:
Do you use artificial intelligence in your daily workflow? Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming an increasingly important part of our daily lives as technology advances. Educators can use artificial intelligence teaching tools for all aspects of their day – from planning instruction to communicating with families. In this blog post, Monica Burns introduces some of the artificial intelligence teaching tools teachers can use to work smarter, not harder, and develop engaging student activities.

Learn more in the article found: HERE

      2. Teaching In A Fishbowl - BYTE AI:
If your newsfeed has been plagued with AI content but you are unsure of where to start, Kirsten Thompson recommends BYTE AI. She provides links to check out the tool and tried it out by asking BYTE AI, " How can teachers use BYTE AI in their classroom?" and the response started with: " There are many ways that teachers can use BYTE AI in their classroom!"

        Learn more by visiting: HERE.

      3. The Future of AI in the Classroom:
Whether you’re intrigued by the idea of AI, terrified, excited, or radically opposed, artificial intelligence in the classroom leaves no one indifferent. The applications of AI in the classroom; however, will likely surprise you. A far cry from a robot taking over your teaching duties, AI is evolving to help automate tedious tasks (essay grading, anyone?), read and react to student emotions, identify and differentiate learning, and yes, even help answer questions.

You can find out more: HERE.

We also have other basic instruction in Microsoft Office, including Word 2007, Excel 2007, Powerpoint 2007.
