Free Online Practice Resources for ACT Tests and SAT Tests! I4C now offers free SAT and ACT vocabulary and math quizzes. Become a free member and log in as much as you'd like. Students can take practice tests on 5000 vocabulary words. or over 1000 math problems. Parents and Mentors can log in to monitor your scores - including seeing which vocabulary words they missed. Interactive quizzes allow the test taker to retake and study as much as they want.

This month we celebrate Black History, Valentine's Day, President's Day, George Washington's Birthday, and Abraham Lincoln's birthday. Visit our monthly newsletter to see all the details. Below are just a few highlights.



WHAT'S HAPPENING THIS MONTH?


Here are just a couple of the February events that you can celebrate this month.



  1. Black History Month - Visit our Black History page. Find lesson plans, Black History activities and projects, timelines, quizzes, and tons of information. Some resources include Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad, MLK, the role of African Americans in music, the Dred Scott Case, African flags, and an entire African American Odyssey exhibit exploring civil rights and slavery.   2. American Heart Month - It's a new year and a great reason to rethink your lifestyle. Reinforce good habits using our Health page full of tools for teaching students about their bodies. We also have a Physical Education resources too.

  3. Groundhog Day (2/2) - Do you know why we chose to follow a groundhog for Groundhog Day? Get your students laughing with these peek-a-boo groundhog puppets that are simple to make and explore this fun superstitious holiday.

  4. Valentine's Day (2/14) - I4C has a great page of Valentine's Day lessons, crafts, online games and Valentine's printables. Have your students write a story using the phrases of 5 or 6 heart candy message pieces. Get creative!

  5. Abraham Lincoln's Birthday (2/12); Presidents Day (2/20); George Washington's Birthday (2/22) - Find lesson plans, history, timelines, reading exercises, and quizzes on both Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. Celebrate Presidents Day with these puzzles, printable fact cards, printable biographies and prompts, coloring pages, web quests, and more.

  1. Download this free USA Presidents app. Students can flip through flash cards naming every president, their party affiliation, and their term. You can take quizzes too.

  2. What do the potato chip, the traffic signal, a gas mask, and a blood bank have in common? All were invented by African Americans. I4C's Black History month page offers resources, lesson plans, timelines, and activities. Learn about famous African American mathematicians. Get a Black History Lesson for every day of the month. Explore timelines of African American history, Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad, and other related topics. For Elementary find Black History printables on everything from information cards about inventors and leaders to athletes and artists.

  3. I4C OVERVIEW - Whether you are a newcomer or an old pro, it's easy to get "lost" in everything I4C has to offer. We have subject help by grade level on almost all school topics.   2. Celebrate Black History month with printables, projects, and crafts you can do with your kids to honor this important month.

  3. Keep checking our Apps page to find educational games and tools for your iPhones and iPads. Your students can continue practicing math and other topics when outside of class.

  4. Do you need ways to offer more subject practice at home? In our teacher tools section we have Worksheet resources by topic that you can create yourself, print, and test.

TECHNOLOGY TIPS


  1. CTRL+SHIFT+T - Have you ever been working online with a web page(s) open, and all of a sudden your computer freezes and the browser closes? If you push CTRL + SHIFT + T the last web pages you had open will pop back up on the screen. Find other keyboard shortcuts.

  2. Hide YouTube Spam - Do you use YouTube videos for education and lessons? Do you notice all the spam and links around the page of your video? You can remove them! Go to the top URL address bar in your browser window. Highlight the section that reads "watch?v=" in the video link. Type the following in its place: /embed/ and hit ENTER. Only your video will appear.
    EXAMPLE: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0icbqmehs
    REPLACE WITH: www.youtube.com/embed/-0icbqvmehs

  3. Turn Your Data into a Graphic Chart using Excel - You can quickly turn any data entry into a chart in Excel by using F11. Here is a tutorial for Excel 2003 and one for Excel 2007.


We also have other basic instruction in Microsoft Office, including Word 2007, Excel 2007, Powerpoint 2007.
