Free Online Practice Resources for ACT Tests and SAT Tests! I4C now offers free SAT and ACT vocabulary and math quizzes. Become a free member and log in as much as you'd like. Students can take practice tests on 5000 vocabulary words. or over 1000 math problems. Parents and Mentors can log in to monitor your scores - including seeing which vocabulary words they missed. Interactive quizzes allow the test taker to retake and study as much as they want.

It's Back to School! School is in session and it's time to get organized. Visit our monthly newsletter to see all the details. Below are just a few highlights.



WHAT'S HAPPENING THIS MONTH?


Here are just a couple of the August events that you can celebrate this month.

  1. First Class Postage was Raised to .04 (8-1-19-1958) - Did you know postage used to be calculated by the number of sheets in your letter? Learn all about the Postal Service, the history of the stamp, and view pics of the original mail trucks.

  2. International Left-Hander's Day (8-13) - Roughly 10-15% of Americans are left handed. 1 in 4 Apollo astronauts were left handed. 3 out of the last 5 presidents have been left handed. You can find all sorts of fun, yet, conflicting, left-handed trivia online. But one thing is for sure, there are quite a few famous left-handers!

  3. The 19th Amendment was Ratified, Granting Women the Right to Vote (8-18-1920) - The movement for women's rights was elevated to the national level when the 19th Amendment was propsed to Congress in 1878. It took roughly 70 years of suffrage before the Amendment was ratified. Explore Scholastic's lessons, graphics, and historic information on Women's Suffrage.

  4. MLK Gave His Famous "I Have A Dream" Speech (8-28-1963) - Can you believe it's been 49 years since Martin Luther King, Jr gave his famous speech? Watch it, read the transcript, and be inspired.

    TECHNOLOGY TIPS


    1. I Saved Over My File!:Did you know that you can right click on a Word document file, and there's a "restore previous versions" option in case you save over something. Other Office tips.

    2. My Screen is Sideways!:I've done it too. You press the wrong key and your screen is suddenly reading sideways. Click CTRL+ALT+Up and it will fix it instantly. Other Keyboard Shortcuts.

    3. Hide Your Window:Clicking ALT + Tab will hide the current screen you are working on. Clicking that again will bring it back up - for lab teachers who want to catch students in the act! Other Keyboard Shortcuts.
