# 3rd Grade Algebra

### Links on each of the pages below were verified in December, 2014

To work on third grade algebra standards, click on the numbers below to visit pages with plenty of internet resources for each of the learning standards on the right.

Checks for Understanding are at the top of this page. Scroll down to find internet resources related to the State Performance Indicators (SPIs).

At the very bottom of this page is a link to Algebra resources for grades 3-5 from the National Library of Virtual Manipulatives.

### Checks for Understanding (Formative/Summative Assessment)

Commutative Operations - Show that addition and multiplication are commutative operations. Not Commutative Operations - Show that subtraction and division are not commutative operations. Multiply - Use commutative, associative, and distributive properties to multiply whole numbers. Properties - Solve problems using the commutative, associative, and distributive properties. Find Unknowns - Find unknowns in number sentences and problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division. Analyze Patterns - Analyze patterns in words, tables, and graphs to draw conclusions. Create Patterns - Create different representations of a pattern given a verbal description. Analyze Change - Analyze patterns in quantitative change resulting from computation.

### State Performance Indicators

Algebraic Properties - Verify a conclusion using algebraic properties. Math Relationships - Express mathematical relationships using number sentences/equations. Equations - Find the missing values in simple multiplication and division equations. Describe/Extend Patterns - Describe or extend (including finding missing terms) geometric and numeric patterns.

### National Library of Virtual Manipulatives

 Algebra - for Grades 3 through 5.
