This database was used in my science classroom. During the first week of school students would enter information which became my class roster, grade book and birthday list.

This database was used to keep up with software purchased for 21st Century classrooms. More than one comment area was provided because the maximum entry into any database field is 250 characters, or about 3 lines of text.

Students were asked to read a science article and make a journal entry into the database. Once again, more than one comment area was provided because the maximum entry into any database field is 250 characters, or about 3 lines of text.

Another journal entry project was designed to build a database of Notable Scientists.

A database can be used to keep up with any information which you need to collect. One rule of thumb that I use is that if you are not going to use the data, don't collect the data. For example; if you are never going to mail a note to the student's home, and you are not going to sort your students by address, then don't collect that information.
