- In 1961, Roger Maris hits home runs 37, 38, 39 & 40 in a doubleheader. He hit 61 runs total for the season, breaking Babe Ruth's record.
- In 1978, Louise Joy Brown, the First "Test Tube" baby is born in Oldham General Hospital, UK.
- In 1984, Svetlanan Savitskaya, a Soviet cosmonaut, became the first woman to walk in space.
