  1. In 44 BC, Pharaoh Cleopatra VII of Egypt declares her son Ptolemy XV Caesarion as co-ruler of Egypt.
  2. In 1789, Congress establised the United States Treasury Department.
  3. In 1870, Napoleon III personally surrenders at Sedan to the Prussians.
  4. In 1930, the first non-stop airplane flies from Europe to US in 37 hours.
  5. In 1936, the first transatlantic round-trip air flight took place.
  6. In 1945, V-J Day (Victory over Japan Day), a formal surrender ceremony, was performed in Tokyo Bay, Japan aboard the battleship USS Missouri.
  7. In 1952, Dr Floyd J. Lewis uses deep freeze technique in heart surgery for the first time.
  8. In 1969, the first automatic teller machine is installed in the United States.
  9. In 1971, both Chris Evert and Jimmy Connors win their first US Open tennis matches.
  10. In 1978, Graham Salmon set the worlds record for running the 100 meters dash by a blind man.
  11.
