  1. In 1790, the first American book is copyrighted; John Barry - "Philadelphia Spelling Book."
  2. In 1822, Charles Graham received the first patent for false teeth, even though his were not the first false teeth to be used.
  3. In 1934, Donald Duck made his 1st screen appearance in "The Wise Little Hen."
  4. In 1943, The pay-it-as-you-make-it income tax, a withholding tax on payrolls was passed by Congress
  5. In 1946, Joe Louis knocks out Billy Conn in 8 rounds to win the heavyweight boxing title.
  6. In 1965, Frenchman Michel Jazy broke the record by running the mile in 3 minutes, 53.6 seconds.
  7. In 1978, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints deleted a 148-year-old policy of excluding black men from the Mormon priesthood.
  8. In 1986, the Dow Jones-index hits a new record of 45.71 points.
  9. In 1989, "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier," premieres in USA, the least successful film in the Star Trek franchise.
  10. In 2000, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to repeal gift and estate taxes.
