- In 1846, the first official baseball game was played between the New York Baseball club and the Knickerbockers.
- In 1862, Slavery was outlawed in all U.S. territories.
- In 1870, the Confederacy States of America ceased to exist.
- In 1905, the first nickelodeon theatre opened in Pittsburgh. It was named so b/c it cost a nickel to get in.
- In 1910, the first Father's Day celebration occurred in Spokane, Washington. Father's Day is now recognized in more than 52 countries.
- In 1941, Cheerios Cereal created the O-shape.
- In 1964, the Civil Rights Act was past 73-27, prohibiting segregation, discrimination, and allowing African Americans to vote.
- In 1987, Ben & Jerry's released the flavor Cherry Garcia and it still goes strong today as a favorite flavor.
- In 1995, the New York Yankees announced an agreement with Darryl Strawberry.
- In 2000, the U.S. Supreme Court barred leading the audience in prayer before the game.
