  5. In 1944. US General Patton lands in France.
  6. In 1957, Althea Gibson is first African American to win Wimbledon.
  7. In 1957, Beatle John Lennon first meets Beatle Paul McCartney.
  8. In 1958, Alaska becomes 49th state of the United States.
  9. In 1960, Dr. Barbara Moore completes a 3,207 mile walk from LA to NYC.
  10. In 1976, the US Naval Academy admitted it's first class of 81 women.
