  1. "FROM ROCK 'N' ROLL TO A MARS SPACE SCIENTIST" - A science lesson plan which allows students to identify science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) careers that are represented on a mission such as the Mars Science Laboratory. They will conduct research into the requirements of entering a STEM field of their choosing and be able to describe where they might work and what sorts of projects they might be involved in.
  2. Guide to K-12 STEM Resources for Teachers - includes lesson plans for elementary, middle, and high school teachers plus a list of STEM resources for
  3. Kids Discover Galaxies - This site has a link for a free IPad app which allows the student learn about how galaxies are born, kinds of galaxies, galactic myths and legends using interactive 3-D models, high-definition video and audio, hi-res photographs, cartoons, and animations, easy-to-read, accessible writing, quizzes, puzzles, and other fun games.

  5. The City Dark - In this lesson, students will study the nesting process of the endangered loggerhead turtle species and watch a video clip that illustrates how artificial lighting along nesting beaches disorients turtle hatchlings and hinders their ability to reach the ocean successfully. Students will then identify ways that humans can reduce the threat of such lighting to natural habitat.
  6. The Internet of Things: IoT - Students will be able to define the Internet of Things (IoT) and how it works. Students will develop models of their own IoT and speculate about future technologies and abilities the IoT will enable.
  7. The Science of Baking - In this lesson, students engage in a cross-curricular unit of study using expert advice and the scientific method. Students work collaboratively to explore the function and chemical structure and reactions of leavening agents creating original recipes, hosting and producing their own cooking videos, and building concept maps and a pathfinder for communicating understanding of food science principles and practices.
  8. Youth Obesity: Schools Fight Back - Students will learn the difference between healthy and unhealthy snacks. They will examine why people like unhealthy snacks and conduct an investigation to find healthy replacements for them.
