Word List 5
- omnipotent: having unlimited or universal power, authority or force; all-powerful
- metamorphosis: a transformation as if by magic or sorcery; a marked change in appearance, character, condition, or function.
- acumen: quickness, accuracy, and keenness of judgment or insight.
- obsequious: full of or exhibiting servile compliance; fawning
- plagiarize: to use, and pass off, the writing and ideas of another as one's own
- quasar: an extremely distant, and thus old, celestial object whose power output is several thousand times that of our entire galaxy
- lexicon: a vocabulary; a dictionary; a stock of terms used in a particular profession or subject
Thursday Activities
- Connectives - Click on the link and type in your vocabulary words and their definitions in the three columns. Your definitions will be typed in column 2 and continue in column 3. Print out the sheet and cut it into the individual blocks. Keep the pieces in a Ziploc bag and try to put the connectors together during your travel time or free time at home.
- Create a word cloud with this tool. Type in each vocabulary word. Also type in some synonyms and antonyms of each word. When you are finished, click "Go." See if you can match up the vocabulary word with its synonyms and antonyms.
- Word Scrambler - Click on the link and create your own word scrambler with your vocabulary words. Type in the number of words you wish to scramble and press the "next" button. You will see a sheet that has the answers for you. Press next again and print out the page. Complete it and put it in your notebook.

Use the daily activities to help you remember words that you learn each week. It is much easier to remember what the words mean if you do something with them and use them frequently in talking with your parents, family and friends.
