Key Events:

  • In 1763, France signed "Peace of Paris" in which they gave up all of Canada, the Great Lakes, and Upper Mississippi Valley to the British, bringing an end to the Seven Years War.

Key People:

  • George Washington - The first American president. In 1754, he lead a band of Virginia militiamen against the French.

Vocabulary:

  • The Seven Years War (1754) - a major war that pitted Prussia and Great Britain and a coalition of smaller German states against an alliance consisting of Austria, France, Russia, Sweden, and Saxony.
