ELA Resources - Common Core State Standards

1. The Learning Network: Common Core Weekly Prompts - Each Friday three short writing ideas that address Common Core Standards are presented that are grounded in New York Times content.
2. Common Core Teaching and Learning Strategies - Gr K-5:The strategy suggestions are designed to be used as a framework for generating ideas and inspiring collaborative dialog when implementing the Common Core Standards.

4. Test Question Samplers - Gr 3,6,7,10 ELA questions; (passages are not given, but are in well known books). Gr.3,4,6,7, High School Math questions.
5. Sample Questions Reflecting the Common Core State Standards for Reading - Grades 2-10 - ELA CCSS classroom questioning examples - craft probing questions to encourage students to think deeply and critically about what they read.

Literacy Center Activities/ Ideas

1. Nonfiction Text Features Posters - These posters can be used to introduce and review various nonfiction text features. They are designed for easy use, simply print, laminate, and display. (must register on site first before downloading items)
2. Non-Fiction Text Feature Checklist/Scavenger Hunt - This checklist helps to encourage students to pay attention to text features as they read non-fiction. (must register on site first before downloading items)
3. Folktale Booklet and Posters - This is a folktale booklet for your students to use with a study of folktale. Includes graphic organizers for fairy tales, myths, legends, tall tales and fables.
4. Character Cash - A fun activity to use for a character study/ book report.

1. Utah Core Standards - Lessons and Links for all grade levels. Click on a grade level to view the Utah Core standards for that grade. Click on the subject title to view all grades for that subject. 
2. Open Educational Resources - Advanced Search site - Put in the grade level, subject area and topic to find resources. Choose from the bottom additional criteria before clicking on Search.
