Using Claris HomePage Buttons

Claris HomePage 2 only

This button is used on Claris HomePage 2.0 but not in version 3.0

Claris HomePage 3 only

This button is used on Claris HomePage 3.0 but not in version 2.0

New Page

A new page an also be created from the File menu or with the keyboard command Ctrl+N (Command+M) Claris HomePage 2.0 only

Open

An existing page an also be opened from the File menu or with the keyboard command Ctrl+O (Command+O) Claris HomePage 2.0 only

Save Button

A document can be saved from the File menu or with the keyboard command Ctrl+S (Command+S) Claris HomePage 2.0 only

Edit Page

The default window. You must be in this window to edit anything on the page in WYSWYG mode. You can select this mode from the Window menu or with the keyboard command Shift+Ctrl+E

Preview Page

Quick preview of the page, you can not edit in this mode. You can also select this mode from the Window menu or with the keyboard command Shift+Ctrl+P

Edit HTML

Change to HTML mode to make modifications. You can also select this mode from the Window menu or with the keyboard command Shift+Ctrl+L [return to step 6]

Preview in Browser

The only way to be sure what your page looks like. You can also select this from the File menu or with the keyboard command Ctrl+R

Object Editor

Edit an object such as a table, horizontal rule or image. You can also select this from the Window menu or with the keyboard commands Alt+W and then O (Command+E) [return to Step 7]

Link Editor

Edit a link to a URL or File, or an Anchor. You can also select this from the Window menu or with the keyboard commands Alt+W and then L (Command+L or Control+C)

Document Options

Define the color of text or background, or set a background image here. You can also select this from the Edit menu or with the keyboard command Ctrl+K (Command+J) [return to Step 6]

Insert Anchor

An anchor allows you to jump to a specific point on a page. You can also select this from the Insert menu or with the keyboard commands Alt+I and then A

Insert Link to File

Establish a link to another web page you have written. You can also select this from the Insert menu or with the keyboard commands Alt+I and then K. Claris HomePage 2.0 only

Insert Image

Insert an image. You can also select this from the Insert menu or with the keyboard commands Alt+I and then I

Horizontal Rule

Draw a horizontal rule across the page. You can also select this from the Insert menu or with the keyboard commands Alt+I and then R

Insert Table

Insert a table. You can also select this from the Insert menu or with the keyboard commands Alt+I and then T. This information is in a table [return to Step 7]

Verify Links and References

Claris Home Page verifies links to pages, anchors on pages, and references to image files or other associated files in your site. Claris HomePage 3.0 only

Consolidate

This feature will make sure all associated images are moved to the same level. This is done automatically by CHP 3.0. This button is found in Claris HomePage 3.0 only

Upload

Upload your web page to the server Ctrl+Shift+U (Command+Shift+U). Claris HomePage 3.0 only

Align Text Left

This is used to align text or images on the left of the page. You can also select this from the Format menu, or with the keyboard commands Alt+M, then A, and then L

Align Text Center

This is used to align text or images in the center of the page. You can also select this from the Format menu, or with the keyboard commands Alt+M, then A, and then C

Align Text Right

This is used to align text or images in the center of the page. You can also select this from the Format menu, or with the keyboard commands Alt+M, then A, and then R

Numbered List

The questions in Step 1 are an example of a numbered list. You can also select this from the Format menu, or with the keyboard commands Alt+M and then M

Bulleted List

A carriage return produces an extra line between text items. That is not true in a bulleted list. You can select this from the Format menu, or with the keyboard commands Alt+M and then B

Indent

You can Tab in CHP but a browser will not read it. You must use the Indent button for this. CHP 3 calls this increase indent.

Outdent

You probably won't find this in a dictionary, but it's the way you undo an indent. CHP 3 calls this decrease indent.

Smaller Text

Highlighted text can be made smaller one step at a time. This works most dependably with Normal text, but does not produce reliable results with any heading.

Larger Text

Highlighted text can be made larger one step at a time. This works most dependably with Normal text, but does not produce reliable results with any heading.

Bold

Highlighted text can be made bold, or the bold attribute can be removed

Italic

Highlighted text can be made italic, or the italic attribute can be removed

Text Color

The color of highlighted text can be changed. Avoid using text the same color as a link color.
