Word List 15

1. survey: A method used to gather information.
2. wander: To move about without a place to go.
3. prevent: To keep something from happening.
4. reverse: To turn around and go in the opposite direction.
5. respect: Showing consideration and honor.

Tuesday Activities

1. Use this site to create your own flashcards and quizzes. Create a free account to keep your cards.
2. Click on create flashcards. Put a title to your cards. Click Continue. Then add the information to each card. Click on Add a Card. On Side one, type in your vocabulary word. On Side two, type in the definition. Then click on Done. Click on Add a Card and do the next one. When you are through, click on Finish Deck.
3. To play, click on Take me to my Deck. The flashcard game will start. See how many definitions you can remember!

Use the daily activities to help you remember words that you learn each week. It is much easier to remember what the words mean if you do something with them and use them frequently in talking with your parents, family and friends.

Sample sentences:

John's survey showed that people were concerned about extinction
The survey recorded hundreds of birds.

We wandered through the jungle looking for animals.
The young animals seem to wander more than their parents.

Everyone can help prevent extinction.
We should prevent the extinction of wild species because they help keep the animals in balance with the food chains.

Students can help identify ways to reverse extinction.
Congress can enact rules to halt and reverse the trend toward species extinction.

We should treat animals with respect.
Respecting animal nature is important. It helps us realize that these animals have their own rules about what is right and wrong.
