Word List 8

1. fable: a story that teaches a lesson
2. fiction: a story that is made up, not true
3. nonfiction: a category of writing that is about real people and real events
4. fantasy: a creation of the imagination

Friday Activities

1. Write a Story - Using your weekly words, create a story and type it into a Word document on your own computer.
2. Log into the Read the Words website using this link.
3. Have an adult type in your story. Click on the green button to listen to your story being read.

Use the daily activities to help you remember words that you learn each week. It is much easier to remember what the words mean if you do something with them and use them frequently in talking with your parents, family and friends.

Sample sentences:

I like the fable about the grapes and the fox.
My teacher told us to make up our own fable.

This book is fiction.
Our assignment was to write a fictional story.

I read a nonfiction book about Abraham Lincoln.
The nonfiction book on President Carter was very good.

Some fantasy stories are hard to understand.
