Grade 1-2: Vocabulary Lesson for Wednesday, Week 11

This week's theme is: Earth


Word List 11

  1. Earth: The third planet from the sun.
  2. astronomy: The study of the universe and the objects in it.
  3. planet: A large body in the sky that does not shine using its own light but uses light from the star around which it revolves.
  4. telescope: A tool or instrument for making distant objects appear larger and brighter.

Wednesday Activities

  1. Create a mind map with words that mean the opposite of your vocabulary words. If you need an example of a mind map, click on the link for an example.
  2. Click on this link for the game. Drag and drop the correct word to complete the sentence.
  3. Click on this link to go to the game. Read the word aloud each time you see it. This week's list is the second grade sight word list.

Use the daily activities to help you remember words that you learn each week. It is much easier to remember what the words mean if you do something with them and use them frequently in talking with your parents, family and friends.

The telescope is a tool used in astronomy.

Do you think there are people who live on other planets?
We must take care of our planet.

I have always wanted my own telescope.
