Key Events:

  • 1919 - Treaty of Versailles - founded the League of Nations, an intergovernmental organization whose goals were preventing war through collective security, disarmament, and settling international disputes through negotiation and arbitration.
  • September 25, 1919 - President Wilson suffered a stroke, from which he never fully recovered
  • March 1920 - the U.S. Senate rejects the Treaty of Versailles and League Covenant.
