  • 1903 - US supported Panama in achieving independence from Colombia in order to further the US interest of building a canal in Central America.
  • 1914- Panama Canal is completed.

  • Colonel George W. Goethals - director of the Panama Canal's construction.

Key Places:

  • Panama Canal - canal in Panama joining the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, making transport significantly easier between the two oceans.
