Key Facts:

  • The first time America and Britain really parted ways was in 1763.

Key Events:

  • 1775 - the first shots of the Revolutionary War were fired.
  • The sugar act of 1764 replaced the Molasses Act of 1733 with new rules for taxing the colonies and their trade activities.

Vocabulary:

  • Royal Proclamation of 1763 - a British document reserving land for Native Americans, which the Americans heavily disagreed with.
