  1. In 1782, the great seal of the United States was adopted.
  2. In 1840, Samuel Morse patents his telegraph.
  3. In 1863, West Virginia was admitted as the 35th state.
  4. In 1895, Caroline Baldwin became the first female to earn a PhD.
  5. In 1911, the NAACP incorporated in New York.
  6. In 1941, the U.S. Army Air Force was established, which in turn replaced the Army Air Corp.
  7. In 1966, Sheila Scott completes the first round-the-world solo flight for a female.
  8. In 1991, Berlin became the capitol of Germany after it was united.
  9. In 1992, Baltimore Orioles introduces the first baseball announcer, Kelly Saunders.
  10. In 1997, Batman & Robin, the sequel to Batman Forever was released in theatres.
