Netscape was unable to create a network socket connection

When I tried to clean out my Email messages sent file a window opened saying I was making an illegal operation. I have over 100 messages in that file, could that be the problem?

  • The "sent file" was corrupted, delete the Sent.snm file
  • path to the file Program Files/Netscape/Communicator/Users/default (users name)/Mail
  • The sent file may have to be deleted as well. Caution - When you do this you lose all messages in that folder.

 My mouse is acting weird. Programs won't close or open, the color changed on the screen and all of a sudden the fonts changed.  

I can't get the TV to have the same picture as the computer.

  • Delta Scan was set to freeze screen so deselect freeze
  • color on computer b/w on TV means the cable is not plugged in all the way
  • the ant/video button was not set to the computer feed
  • S-video cable may be bad.

The TV is black and white while on computer feed, and the cable connection is plugged in all the way (replugged twice).

Cannot access any program on the computer, cannot use Works, CD ROM or any type of program without some type of error showing on the screen.

My icon for Word, Works, Inspiration, etc... is missing.

Computer dialog box when starting "Invalid system disk, Replace the disk, and then press any key."

Unable to write data to drive C:.

A network error occurred while Netscape was receiving data.

My mouse will not function

  • mouse not plugged in or dirty rollers
  • teacher was running a DOS program that children had already opened numerous times. The icons were behind the program manager window. Close the DOS programs, leave last one open so you can get to it.

No sound

  • check plugs - Jack plugged in? Jack plugged into the right place?
  • check on/off switch on the speakers
  • check volume icon
  • check volume control by double-clicking the speaker on the task bar.

Can not send data to the printer. The printer does not respond to the computer.

  • Reboot
  • If still a problem, check cables
  • Add printer again and throw out the old printer icon

  • Corrupted sys file, if you have a startup disk from that machine, copy file to computer

  • bad hard drive (bad clusters on the hard drive) try to boot with floppy

Data error reading drive C:.

The printer is set to work off line on student workstation computers I can not get the check mark to go away. The printer only works with the teacher workstation.

Tip for Odd Behavior of any kind when the system is not frozen:

  • Quit whatever you are doing and Restart the computer. Often this will clear the glitch.
