CCSS.Math.Content.1.G.A.2 - Compose two-dimensional shapes (rectangles, squares, trapezoids, triangles, half-circles, and quarter-circles) or three-dimensional shapes (cubes, right rectangular prisms, right circular cones, and right circular cylinders) to create a composite shape, and compose new shapes from the composite shape.

  1. 2D and 3D shapes - Review the difference between a 2D and a 3D shape.

  5. Solid Figures and Plane Shapes - Find the plane shape that is shown on the solid and match them up.
  6. Tangram - Interactive applet; Click on one of the shape buttons at the bottom of the workspace. Without overlapping, cover the shape with the Tangram blocks. To flip a block, click on it and then click on the Flip button.
  7. Tangram Fun - PDF handout; cut out the shapes and create composite shape from pieces.
  8. Tangram Puzzles - Puzzles to play online. Also this site has printable ones.
  9. Tangrams - Online play; create the composite figure using the shapes.
